Last fall, I did something I hadn't done in years: I left my watch at home and spent the entire day without looking at the time. Instead of living by the clock and planning everything I would do that day, I just lived in the moment and did whatever I wanted to do. I became a more complete person, not just a busybody.
Early one morning, I went for a long walk in the woods. It's one of my favorite activities. I brought along an old copy of Walden by social philosopher Henry David Thoreau, a book I'd grown to love. After finding a beautiful spot to sit and read, I experienced one of those moments of synchronicity when something perfect happens at just the right time. For me, it was randomly opening the book and finding the following paragraph before me:
On the positive side, he began to realize that he felt relaxed and began to laugh more than before he had undertaken this personal development initiative. Because of the semar saliva mor around him and the new awareness it created in his life, he also began to see the lighter side and no longer experienced the levels of stress he had felt in his professional career. This simple discipline elevated him to a whole new level of life and effectiveness.
Why not follow my friend's lead and visit your local video store to pick up the latest funny movie? Then pick up a few books, perhaps from Gary Larson's Far Side series or the much-read Dilbert cartoons, to stimulate your laughter habit. Reconnect with your playful side and enjoy the magic of laughter to your heart's content.
